Mallee Light is a project that uses  imagery to show the natural & human environment of the mallee region of north west Victoria and south west New South Wales.

This site showcases environmental images to provoke awarness and provide a way of making this information more widely available.

This image was taken in the Koorlong State Forest near Mildura.

The area that Mallee Light covers is centred on Mildura and includes the greater Sunraysia region, Hattah-Kulkyne National Park, Murray-Sunset National Park, Mungo National Park, the State parks along the Murray River, and not forgetting the productive and urban environments as well.

This site is the work of Bob Merlin – a photographer based in Mildura and regularly travels throughout the region searching for interesting photographic opportunities. The preference is for natural and environmental subjects but part of his interest is the human impact on the environment as well.

The main motif of this site is the presentation of the region photographically and this is divided into several subpages. Mallee 1 provides a scrolling presentation of select images together with a commentary. Mallee 2 is an expanded gallery of the regional images displayed as slideshow lightbox. Further is another slideshow of images taken when travelling out of the Mallee area – mainly in southern Victoria and Italy.

These images and others that you may like to commission are available for purchase. The details of the options and prices are listed on the Business page along with some of the more interesting projects that are in production currently.

The Contact page has the essential communication information as well as some discussion on the technical aspects of the image production represented on these pages.

The aim of these pages is to present the natural environment in the most faithful way although there is some dramatic licence used to increase the visual impact of the images without going outside the bounds of what is experience through the human senses.

It is hoped you enjoy them.
